Way too easy...

User Rating: 8 | Metroid Prime 3: Corruption WII
Well before we get started I just wanna say that I beat Metroid Prime 3 on Veteran, and Metroid Prime 1 and 2 (on Normal) in 24 hours and only got about 80-90% of all items. In Metroid Prime 3 (on Veteran) I beat it in 22 hours and got 100%.

The whole game is very easy. Firstly, the boss fights are very easy. The bosses might be better served had they simply put a gun to their head and saved themselves from further agony. We have a Beserker Boss that can only be injured by his own weapon. Well he just keeps trying to shoot me with his weapon like he is unaware that it is killing him. Omega Ridley has the same problem. He is only vunerable when he attacks you. You'd think he'd eventually get the picture, but no. He just keeps on attacking like there's no tommorow. Not suprisingly, I beat every boss the game had to offer in less than 3 tries. Remember, this is on Veteran difficulty. In Metroid Prime 1 and 2, on NORMAL difficulty, several bosses killed me more than 20 times.

Exploring is also way too easy. In Metroid Prime 1 and 2 it never tells you where the items are. In this game, it eventually shows you where every item is in the game.
The whole game seems newb friendly, like it was made for people who couldn't beat Metroid Prime 1 or 2.
Another thing that made the game ridiculously easy is the Phazon beam. With it you can annihilate every enemy in the game in a few seconds.

The game isn't bad, it just could have been better. For example, a crucial part of metroid games, the element of suprise, is missing in this game. In Metroid Prime 1 and 2, when you encountered bosses, it would be an adrenaline rush because you would never expect them and they would kill you each time. In this game, every boss room is the same, so you know there is going to be a boss there. The only bosses that suprise you are the mini bosses, but those are all very easy to beat. What makes this even worse is that each boss is a repeat of each other. You will fight the same bosses over and over again. If that wasn't bad enough, the same bosses get easier and easier each time.

Another problem is music. Much of the music is recycled, you will hear the same boss music played throughout the game. The music is not scary either. Much of the appeal of the boss music in Metroid Prime has been lost. Most of the boss music is calm and soothing. The world music is okay, but most of the songs lack a central theme. Another cool thing about Metroid Prime's music is that it changed after you got certain items. In this game this does not happen.

Exploration is a problem too. Most of the game is linear, and the parts that aren't are either too big or too small for you to want to explore. For instance, Skytown. Skytown is so difficult to navigate that you will wish to never visit the planet again. The pirate homeworld is so dull that you will not want to explore. Norion is so small that it is too easy to explore. Bryyo is the only good planet.

The gameplay itself is too linear. The hint system is obtrusive and makes the game way too easy. The game plays like a traditional FPS. In addition, there are voices in the game, unlike Metroid Prime 1 or 2. The game seems more geared towards the casual gamer.
The enemies in the game have too much health, and average a hundred shots to kill. But when you switch to Phazon mode it only takes a few shots to kill them. Most of the time you will stay in Phazon mode, since eventually it will overload, allowing you to shoot Phazon without taking any damage. Another thing that is lacking, are Metroids. There are only 3 types of Metroids, 2 of which don't even look like Metroids. Fans of Echoes will feel alone as well, since there are only 2 types of Ing featured in the game.
