As the final installment in the Metroid Prime series, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption caps the end of an amazing journey.

If you go back to the start of this series on that little purple console it's amazing how far this series has come. The Gamecube versions were great games, and Metroid Prime 3 takes the series to a whole new level. With the new functionality of the Wii Rare was able to develop a beautiful environment and use some intuitive and spot on controls to cap off this great trilogy.

Metroid Prime 3 uses what the Wii has to offer to its advantage, and using the Wiimote to control Samus feels much smoother and easier than using the Gamecube controller. Pointing and shooting at your enemies has never been easier than with the Wiimote. Rare also uses the Nunchuck nicely, which is a rarity for Wii games. For example, you can rip debris out of your way by lunging forward with the Nunchuck, then ripping back to literally throw the debris out of your way. Another new feature added to the controls are the mini-puzzles you will be using the Wii remote to solve. These are as simple as rotating locks back and forth, but it's a nice feature added to take advantage of what the Wiimote is capable of doing.

This game is one of the better looking games developed for the Wii, right behind Super Mario Galaxy. When you look out into space, or are battling the many Space Pirates you will face, or are watching a cut scene every area of Metroid Prime 3 looks beautiful. This is something we just aren't seeing on the Wii, and it's refreshing to see that Rare didn't skimp on graphics and use the excuse that many other developers are using.

Another new feature added in Metroid Prime 3 that wasn't available in 1 or 2 are the unlockable items. Along the way the game will keep track of your kills, boss defeats, etc. and will allow you to cash in your "tokens" earned for new features (e.g. the ability to take snapshots and send them to the Wii Photo channel) or you can trade them in for things to put on your ship (Mii bobblehead is my favorite) or for other items such as dioramas, stickers, etc. I would compare this feature to the 360's achievements and the PS3's trophy's. Just another bonus to come back and play the game over, not that you will need these extra bonuses anyways.

Metroid Prime 3 was a fantastic closing to the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and is a must-play for any Wii owner.
