Bleak, beautiful, touching & brilliant. Metro Exodus is an emotional journey of Artyom.

User Rating: 9 | Metro Exodus PC

Taking the series to next level, Metro Exodus involves you brilliantly into an engaging story line involving Artyom, Anna, Colonel Miller and a few other characters. The bleak world of underground Moscow gives way to a new journey for searching a habitable place.

The characters have deep dialogues. You can sit with a character and he/she will pour their heart out on conversation. Such is the level of detail and portrayal of the post apocalyptic world. The missions are well laid out with varying environments. Enemies, both humans and mutants are engaging enough and aggressive. Different enemies require different solutions. The mutant spiders in the dark tunnels can only be killed by light, so you have to keep shining on them while watching your back. Some mutants are best tackled with shotguns, some might need a Molotov cocktail to set the fight right. Resources are scarce and you have to scavenge for spare parts as well as chemicals to craft weapons and ammo on the workbench.

Since resources are scarce, there's a heavy stealth aspect to the game which is always fun. While creeping up on enemies you can either chose to kill them or knock them out. The quality of weapons can be drastically improved with the upgrades. You can even have 2 of the same weapons with different upgrade specs.

Not everyone you meet is an enemy. You can chose to be humane and spare some, free the slaves from slavers, just knock out others instead of killing them. These choices affect the endgame.

Few sequences in the game get downright scary or intense. Most of them take place in the subterranean. Metro Exodus is a grim journey, touching to the heart, you feel with the characters and their eternal struggle to find a safe place they can call home. The desolate world is magnificent. The ending of this masterpiece is touching and it does vary on the choices you made during the game. Metro Exodus is a gem, tragic and at the same time appealing. The journey of Artyom I suppose ends here. One of the most brilliant FPS of this decade.
