More FPS than Survival Horror

User Rating: 8 | Metro 2033 PC

Metro 2033 is one of the best games in its category. Sending Artem and the Player into an interesting journey through Moscow underneath and above. It is clearly seen that those Devs are the Godfathers of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, even though there is not much left of its roots.
The Good:
-Even though the game is largely set underground in tunnels, the game itself lets the player choose different paths through some sections of the game.
-Weapons are as powerfull and weak as the player, shooting calmly lets you dispatch enemies quickly, while nervous magazine emptying ends up in your death.
-The Ranger Pack is awesome and lets you feel really underwhelmed by the enemies.

The Bad:
-Some levels are insanely difficult, like fighting through amoeba near the end of the game.
-While some levels offer different paths, other levels are highly linear, even though you see a chance to pick a different route, the obstackles are not usable, like cars you can't jump on, or busses you can't enter.
-The companion A.I sometimes fails and makes itself easy prey for the enemy.
-Artem has death, jump and damage sound but has no voice to speak?! Come on!
