I got back to playing console games with the launch of the PS2. Before that, I was all about First Person Shooters on the PC, and hadn't touched a gamepad since the days of Nintendo Entertainment System. I didn't go for the excellent SSX at launch, and was highly disappointed by the other launch titles. So I made active choice to backtrack into the PS1 catalog. I bought one game - Metal Gear Solid - and it literally changed my life as a gamer. MGS to me, is the most compelling game to date on eny platform, at every level. Many things were groundbreaking, but it is the story line and the cinematics that made it such an immersive experience. Since then, many games and genres have tried to introduce a film like story into the game, but none have been able to top the score, characters and cut-scenes of MGS.
