It was my first experience playing MG series. 2012 year, or about that. Actually wasn't so aweson first time. You know, just go from A to B, try not to get caught, watch a cutscene. Customise guns, try to understand what the hell is that two-lines health-bar with stress indicator. That's fine, better that most games. Even knowing nothing about the series - it was cool. Anyway, I got feeling, that something's wrong. That was because of 2 scenes - a dream with MGS1 and final bossfight with you-know-what. I understood, that i'm missing something huge, not just nice stealth with cutscenes.
Until the moment came. So I grabed my balls in a fist, sat my ass down and played all main games in a raw (mgs1 - mgs3). And you know what - MGS universe is HUGE. And when i say HUGE - i don't mean something like Michael Bay's movies with blows, runing, blows, fighting, all scenes are in huge scale, dynamic and merican flags everywhere. And also blows, yep? No. This "HUGE" - is about amount of time, try-hard-work and soul needed to create it. Well-done characters with own deep stories, storyline like no other, music, cutscenes and, of course, Snake's spirit. No matter what Snake we are talking about. It's just about holding a gun and not killing anyone. Being forearmed pacifist messing around with other guys for a better world. And those other guys are not bad guys, nope. The story is fair. It's not about some bad lord, trying to destroy the whole word for some reason and a good hero, saving the whole world. Just a bunch of extraordynary people, who got a bit more power, than average man. Everyone with it's own goals and ways to achieve them.
Well, in a few words - it's the game, that got me. Half-Life 2 got an award as a decade-defining game. For me, Metal Gear defines the whole generation - or era, when games became part of out lives.
Sometimes, I go to YouTube and watch some of cutscenes. The Big Boss scene actually made me to shed a tear. MGS series is a masterpiece of gaming world. And this 10 is totaly deserved. Pretty good, Hideo
