MERCENARY KINGS FROM TRIBUTE GAMES INC ON PS4

Review

I don't normally play 2D indie/retro , platform type games but after playing on this one from TRIBUTE GAMES INC to my surprise it's pretty cool .It accommodates single player and up to 4 players, which you can choose from your online friends list or open the network settings to public and snd see who comes to join you.

Game Basics

You start the game with a choice of two mercenaries (I chose "King" as he looks like the coolest film character ever .... Rambo lol ) or "Empress". You are dropped on the island of Mandragore to live at "Camp Crown" and complete missions for money and rp (respect) in the fight against the evil "Baron" and his "Claw" organisation. Missions usually have a main objective and one or two optional objectives for bonus incentive . You can choose from many missions at "Col B Tasker's" tent at the camp ,after which your trusty copter pilot "Bobby" will give a lift to the start of each mission . Mission objectives involve rescuing hostages or killing specific enemies etc , you are given a time limit and 3 lives to complete your mission . Losing lives results in the money reward for completing your objectives going down with each life lost. Along the way you must collect materials such as wood , aluminium and lead etc which are left behind by killing the large array of enemies and weird and wonderful creature's or from knifing or shooting crates. These materials can then be used along with the money you gather back at the camp by visiting various tents to upgrade weapons health packs and other goodies for use in missions.

Graphics

This game's graphics are up to date animation in style but still keeping that old skool feel to It giving a clean and clear experience. The game also makes good use of the ps4's features for example the reloading of weapon sounds relayed through the controllers speaker and the level's maps(although being a little unclear, which was my only niggle with the game)are controlled by the touch pad which are nice little touches to an overall good title.

Overall

The animation and gameplay are clear and smooth from this not too involved but enjoyable platform game for all ages . The map's on the touchpad could be clearer and the music a little less annoying but that being said it is in keeping with the old skool feel to the game. On the whole a good little retro title that TRIBUTE GAMES INC can be very proud of and is definitely worth checking out, Available to download from the psn market for free for a limited time .
