A adventure story that needs some spice.

User Rating: 5.5 | Memento Mori PC
Memento Mori is a third person adventure game where you find clues and use inventory items to progress in the game. The plot is fairly strait forward but a bit odd not making much sense. You play as two indenities, Max and Lara. I like Max though Im American and found the acting between the two to be very bad. The acting is just dry with stale humor even for someone that is into British humor.

Warning Spoilers below!!!!

You start the game and find out that Max has stolen priceless paintings to make money. Not a bad idea except the Russian milita catches him. Then you end up in St. Petersburg, Russia attempting to help a Russian agent when you notice a monk stealing paintings. Then it just goes from not making much since to downright weird. I don't know but maybe you have to be from Europe and/or Russia to get a true understanding out of all this? Don't get me wrong I love a suspenseful plot. The Nazis stole paintings in many of the nations they occupied during WWII. This fact is even mentioned in game as the Russian government hides priceless paintings underground in the sewers most liely to avoid this very fact.

The graphics and effects can be breath taking at times but to be honest I thought The Lost Crown and Secret Files had better background effects.
The sounds are decent if a bit sparse in places. I was a little surprised that they used music rather than sound effects to create tension. The voice acting is average in my opinion. You have the European accents that is to be expected in a game that take place in Russia but they are dry. I believe Next Life had much better voice acting using European accents even with humor thrown in that made since.

Memento is fairly long taking me over ten hours to complete but in the end you just feel like your going through the motions.
