A nice 2D Platformer, but it lacks true quality.

Game Review-Gameboy Color-Megaman Xtreme

Review 63

Released: January 11, 2001
Developer: Capcom
Game Genre: 2D Platformer

Opening Thoughts:
Megaman Xtreme was remade on the Gameboy Color from the original Megaman Xtreme for Gameboy and Gameboy Pocket. It’s the same thing, aside from 2 new characters and 2 new bosses and color.

Story
Megaman Xtreme follows the storyline of X and ZERO, two robots that were found one day and eventually became Maverick Hunters to help the planet and all that good stuff. It’s a pretty bland storyline by itself, but the game actually follows it through the levels, which is rather neat.

Gameplay
I’m not sure you can truly go wrong with 2D Platformer gameplay. It’s just a standard run through the levels, destroy the badguys til you get to the boss, then destroy him type of game.

Graphics
Pretty good, but still lagging for its time on the GBC.

Durability
I didn’t play it for very long because the levels got repetitive, but those who like either 2D Platforming or the Megaman X series will love this game.

Controls: There are many different abilities that X learns throughout the game, giving a much more in-depth control system than most games on the GBC.
