If you're a fan of Megaman then you'd probably like this game, otherwise approach with caution.

User Rating: 6.5 | RockMan X4 PS
The Megaman X series was never known for being innovative or mixing things up. While there isn't really anything bad about this game, there isn't really anything all that special or exceptional either.

Gameplay, 7. The game works like any other 2D plaformer for the Playstation. When you start a new game you can choose to be either Megaman X or Zero. Megaman X has a gun and Zero has a sword. You have to get to the end of the level while shooting any bad guys that might get in your way and at the end of each level there will be a boss. Each level has 2 parts and the boss is in the second part. Each time you beat a boss you get a new ability to go with your little gun on your arm or if you use Zero a new thing for your sword.
The game plays pretty well. Although there are certainly some cheap moments in the game which makes for a sometimes, ridicoulously hard game.

Graphics, 6. Early in the stage of 3D gaming the graphics aren't really impressive being a 2D game. As a 2D game it look all right. If this game had been on the Sega Genesis this would be great graphics but this the Playstation and not any system of the generation for it. I'm not gonna be too hard on the graphics seeing as this game isn't really meant to be 3D looking.

Sound, 7. The music isn't really anything special. It's just there. There is occasionally voice acting in a few cut-scenes but other than that it's all dialogue you have to read. The sound effects are also all right. They're all just there.

Value, 6. The game has some value to it as long as you aren't too good of a Megaman gamer. Since the levels are pretty hard and the bosses are even harder this game's difficulty makes up for its shortness.

Difficulty, Hard. I don't recall there being a difficulty setting for you to put the game on. The game is pretty hard. After the starting level all the levels start to get challenging. The bosses are even worse in terms of difficulty. The final boss is possibly one of the hardest bosses I have ever fought.

Tilt, 6. I'm not that big of a Mega man fan so I don't see all that much in this game. However, if you're a Mega man fan then this is the game for you. If you're looking for a 2D platformer for the Playstation, then look for another game because this one isn't anything special.
