A great way to continue where the megaman battle network series left off. Great game!

Gamespot turned me away from the megaman star force series at first with their low score. I decided to buy the first game anyways, and I was very pleased with what I played.

The story stars Geo Stelar, a young boy whose dad was supposedly lost in a space accident. After hearing the news, Geo didn't go to school and was very closed to the world. Every night, he goes to Vista Point, a place where he watches the stars, relaxes, and thinks about his dad. One night however, he encounters Omega-Xis, an alien FM. They become friends, and eventually, they merge together to form megaman in the wave world! They battle many enemies, and eventually will have to save the world from certain doom......

The gameplay is similar to the megaman battle network series, in the way that you roam the different areas as Geo(like Lan) and search the wave world(the futuristic cyberworld) as megaman. You can talk to the people for info, shop for battle cards(basically like battlechips) used to fight viruses, explore, and more. You also have special glasses called visualizers that let you view the wave world from the normal world, which actually gives you a heads up about what's coming. However, the fighting is a bit different, because it's 3-D! The experience is definately improved from this feature, because it makes it more exciting and you can lock-on to your enemies to make attacking more effective! There are some drawbacks though, such as only being able to move around in the back row. Equipable weapons for Omega-Xis determine your buster charge, rapid, and attack strength. There is also the star force power, a special power you achieve once you get far enough into the game that has very impressive attack power. You find data packets in the form of green, blue, and purple octagons on the field. These can contain health upgrades, battle cards, or money. You sometimes use various touch screen based elements to complete parts of the game, like tapping one of four spaces around you to dodge things.

The graphics were still similar to the battle network series, which I appreciated, but they had more vivid colors and environments. The characters took a little while to get into, but after awhile they became believable(Geo was good, but I mean the secondary characters, Bud, Luna, etc.). The music isn't great, but it's definately a decent soundtrack to go along with the game.

Overall, this is the beginning of a great series. After the megaman battle network series ended, they came back with this equally enjoyable experience and everything comes together nicely. I recommend this game to everyone! Enjoy!
