MM:NT is a game that fails to deliver a new, nor an old school experience, that is above anything but mediocrity.

I admit, even though I am a MegaMan fan, the Battle Network is by far the worst series. MM:BN 3 was a huge letdown, with too many fetch quests and "go here" objectives, and MM:BN 4 had the same problems, but added more problems. I've never played the first, nor the second, so don't ask me about them. Here's a game that preceeded them all: MegaMan: Network Transmission. With the series taking a jump into the Gamecube, how cool can it get? Actually, it's only cool on minimal levels.

When the game starts, you'll find it has a sort of bland presentation to it. Once you jump into cyberspace, though, you'll be blown away by the good music and great graphics this game offers. Also, you'll start to like the old scholl side-scrolling gameplay of MegaMan yore, but trust me, it won't stay this good for long.

The frustration begins to dig in once you reach the first boss, in which making the boss battles the lowest point of hte game. You have to time your moves just right in order to avoid tons of damage, or you'll face certain death early. For example, FireMan is the first boss of the game, after he sets the cyberspace on fire. You navigate through the fist level with ease, but then have to face this moron who fires waves of fire that you have to slide under at just the right time, or you'll die quickly. This goes for virtually every boss, who has a unique weakness to them, but it's utilized in a way that is hard to dodge their attacks.

Also, gameplay is unwieldy. You have chips, just like in the GBA games, that you can use, and can only use so many times. That's the problem. You have so little of chips to fit in your folder, that, in later levels, you'll run out fairly quickly and have to go without them to the boss. The only way to get more chips is by getting chip pick-ups from enemies, which don't help at all. Complete frustrarion is all this game will bring to you.

The levels also get boring after a while, although they do look great. But, it seems like MegaMan can only jump so high, almost as if he is stuck to the floor. Bummer. You're also stuck listening to Japanese voiceovers, so bummer to that too.

MM:NT is just not worth your time and money. Avoid this game if you can.
