The blue bomber is back again in this adventure of blasting boss enemies and taking their weapons for your own. As we know the blue bomber is known as MegaMan (aka X). Mavrick Hunter X is basically a remake of the orignal MegaMan X that was on the snes, having the exact same gameplay and characters in the year 20XX. X and Zero are back again as Mavrick Hunters to stop Sigma from creating a world of just mavricks. Through out the game of Mavrick Hunter X, youll be able to unlock new features in this game and be able to play as a new character upon completeting the game. Most fans of the MegaMan X series will enjoy this remake and look more deeper in to the story of the X series.

As we know, X is the main character of this game and youll be controlling him through out the stages of Maverick Hunter X. Having the same setup as the orignal MegaMan X buttons. You are able to change the settings in the options menu in the main screen when you start the game. Your typical Square button to charge and shoot, X to jump, and last O to dash. So after you have finished the prolugue of the game, youll be able to choose 8 different stages to go from. Depending which types of bosses you want to go through, thats your choice on doing so. But remeber that each boss has a weakness and when you get that item, youll be able to kill the bosses easier. Many of the bosses weakness is pretty strong and can put a punch into them making them just a little to easy to play and vice versa if you dont have the weapon. Back on the snes you had your typical weapon changer with the R and L trigger, and in this version they are back again with a little feature that can help gamers out. Upon retreiving some of the weapons from the bosses, youll be able to seee which items you switch to on the top left corner of the screen on the psp. This really helps out when you need to switch weapons quickly and dont need to pause the game to know which weapon you need to use. ONe unique thing in the weapons system is that you can also have the weapon on X and be pressing the triangle button for the normal attacks. Which is kinda like a double attack technique, but officially you dont really need it. Many of the hearts and sub tanks are back, but this time capcom has changed the places of the capsules and heart tanks for you to look for. Youll need to find the dash boots, before you can actually use the dash in this game. So youll have to figure out where they are and play through the game to find these items. There is a big reward in getting the secret move in this game, and most gamers will know it from the MMX series on the snes. But you can only get this move once you have collected all the items in Mavrick Hunter X. You will also get the typical wall jumps and wall climbs like the last Megaman X series. One thing they didn't add in this is the duck command which was added during the megaman X5 series and so on. Having this would be nice but again its a remake of the orignal MMX.

MegaMan X had some of the best techno mix's back on the snes. So this time capcom decided to go back old school and use the original tracks from the snes version. But they have remixed the music a bit, so most gamers and fans will recongize the music tracks of MegaMan X. Alot of the tracks are upbeat and have a techno mix to it. Each level you choose will have its own distinct soundtrack and level desgin. Hearing back these old tunes on the psp makes you really feel like this remake was worth it and to actually play again. The sound efffects from each weapon behing shot out and enemies taking damage really have a kick in it. When you use most of the weapons, they really seem heavy and sound like they can kick some robot butt. Each character has a well design voice to the game, and not like MegaMan X4 where X sounds like a little girl. X has a more cool lookin voice while Zero has a funky radical voice. During the cutscnes the voices are well in placed and sound effects are done very well.

Now there was big reason why capcom wanted to do a remake of the orignal MegaMan X. Some of the reasons are because of fans, capabilites of the psp. But most likely its because of the graphics that they wanted to enchance. Mavrick Hunter X presents itself in a 3D environment with 2D side scrolling action. X looks great from having the blue armor and to his white armor which shows how X can really look like. Alot of more animations have been added in this game which makes this psp title worth playing. There are not much CG cut scenes, and i thank capcom for not putting those in. The game instead is filled with animation sequences, each boss you defeat or part of a story you run into. Each boss character has there own unique look and very outstanding attacks that can demolish X if hit. Zero is in the game, but hes not a playable character which is a let down. But having this game being produced, im pretty sure capcom is on the verge of making Mavrick Hunter X2 and X3. All in all this game is great for fans and even new guys to pick up and play. Many of the 2d side scrollers have been a let down, so do not miss this one out. Itll be worth your time and has a old school playing style to it.
