Not a lazy port, but its still mostly a game that more than a decade old.

This is not a lazy port like the Dash games, but the game isn't as good as it was all those years ago.

GAMEPLAY

The big problem with the game is that it plays exactly as it did on the SNES. Not that its bad, but it isn't as great as it was when we first laid hands on it. Think about a NES MegaMan game, with jumping, running, and shooting, add in Wall kicking, Dashing, Dash jumping, And all kinds of upgrades allowing you to do a lot of things. Basically, I don't have much to say other than its a case of if its not broke, don't fix it.

You get new weapons as you kill your opponents, and eventually you take on the final areas with all your weapons, and hopefully most of the items. Its fun to test weapons on different enemies.

GRAPHICS

The game shines here. It has some nice cut scenes, awesome 3D graphics (Okay, they aren't that great, but this is awesome seeing the game in 3D). The animation appears messed up once in a while, but on the whole the game looks and plays great.

One thing is the slow down. Right before a boss when the warning comes up it slows down, but more often that not it makes it look more cool. The other bouts are not, while your playing the game and it slows down its annoying.

SOUND

The voicing is good. I like the fact that its in English unlike another MegaMan game thats on the DS. The explosions, charging and music all sound great, and really should bring back memories.

VALUE

Its a very old game, but new graphics, new cutscenes, revised item locations, new playable character, multiple difficulties, all packed on a handheld. Then again, its an old game, but I enjoyed playing through it once.

TILT

The game has a grab unlike most games I play. The story isn't great, but I still wanted to see what they did with the original games story and how it fit in. I found that I was engaged in beating increasingly difficult levels. Whatever it is, the game has awesome grab, which means awesome tilt.

OVERALL

Its not perfect, but its definitely a good buy for the waning PSP collection of games. Finally a reason to play my PSP again... until I beat it, then its just a MP3 player again...
