While it was Megaman's last chance for a good ending the game ended being as solid as usual.
Story: Lan and his family decided to move to a new place, an urbanised city called Cyber City. While Lan was tragically separated from his old friends he managed to form new friends in his new school. A do gooder named Tab, a trouble maker named Mick and a mysterious girl named Iris. Lan also learned of a new technology, an advance doll that can transfer Net Navis in its system, thus giving them physical forms and can even animate their appearances as well as their abilities. However this peace didn't last for long. WWW has returned and were more determined than ever to destroy the world, but this time with the help of 2 things, The advanced dolls in order to give their viruses physical forms, and data of 2 legendary forbidden programs call Cybeasts, one named Falzar and the other Gregar.
These 2 programs were said to exist in the deep dark depth of the Cyber City net. As Megaman went to stop WWW it was already too late. WWW managed to retrieve the Cybeast Falzar but were not powerful enough to trap the other Cybeast and have decided to retreat. In rage the Cybeast Gregar was about to destroy the net area when Megaman confronted it. Megaman managed to absorb Gregar within his body but because the energy was too strong Megaman lost control and went berserk. Megaman and Lan eventually learned to control Megaman's new powers and set off to stop WWW.
Game design: The core game's design is once again almost the exact same with just a few changes. You will once again wonder the real world as Lan and will wonder the internet as Megaman. Apart from background changes the core game is the same as in Battle Network 5, except that liberation missions was removed.
Game play: You will once again use battle chips and Megaman's buster to delete viruses and enemies. You can now use Soul Unisons (Now called Soul Cross) for an entire battle without needing any specific battle chips. In this game you can gain Soul Cross from other characters, other characters will also be playable only at certain places.
A new feature in the game is the beast out system. In this version your beast out is Gregar. In beast out you take less damage and will not be stunned by the enemy. Also during beast out chips will be auto-locked and can always damage your enemies. The buster also becomes an assault gun that can shoot fast rapid fire without limit. You can also perform a soul cross in beast out mode and can increase the attacks of other soul cross by double.
However, beast out only lasts for 3 turns and you have to revert back to normal, because if you don't you will go Beast Over. In this form you will become completely invisible but will go berserk and will not be able to control Megaman for an entire turn. Once the turn finishes, Megaman will revert back to his normal self (regardless of which soul cross you used), but his entire HP will drop to 1.
This is a very neat system and the Cybeast's power does make the game a lot easier and more appealing to a lot of players, even bosses will have difficulties fighting Megaman in beast out.
The rest of the game is traditional. Megaman will level up using Power-ups and HP memories and there are a few new battle chips.
Sound: The same as always, new music but sound effect is the same.
Megaman Battle Network 6 may serve as a great game for fans of the series, but for those who are hoping for something revolutionary you won't get it here. The game is pretty much the same old exploring and virus busting Megaman game, so it's basically a solid Megaman game. I still would strongly recommend this game to either fans of the series or RPG fans. The game play is still as fun as ever and the story is very interesting.
