Megaman is back with new style!

User Rating: 8.1 | Battle Network RockMan EXE 2 GBA
Megaman Battle Network 2 is the sequel to Battle Network. There are new things added to the game while some things still remain solid, however the increase in the difficulty of the game can turn you off a bit.

Story: A while has passed since Lan and Megaman defeated the WWW organisation. The world and the internet lived in peace, until a terrorist organisation known as Gospel began committing crimes and turning the internet into a dangerous place for Net Navis. This fact however didn’t stop Lan from going to save the internet once again, if it means he can leave out his homework. Game design: There is not much to comment on the graphics. The game is still an RPG rather than 2D action shooter, while most of the out side world is the same the internet world has been completely remade. You won’t recognise any of the old places you used to surf at, and of course there will be lots viruses that will randomly appear and battle you. The game’s difficulty has also increased due to the boss battles and the new puzzles around can be hard to solve.

Game play: You will once again be playing as Lan/Megaman. In the real world you will play as Lan and will be scatting around talking to people and triggering events. Once Lan uses his PET to jack into the net you will play as his Net Navi Megaman.EXE. You will be going around the net and will be battling viruses that show up at random. Bosses that are defeated will also appear at random and can make surviving the internet an issue.
Just like the previous game, during the battle sequence you will be placed on boards and can move Megaman freely around his side, you can attack with the buster or can send battle chips to deal more damage, how the chips work is the same as the previous game. The newest addition to the game is the style change. Instead of buying armors (Which was optional in the previous game) Megaman can obtain new style suits, which will enable him to naturally use elemental attacks in addition to other features such as increase in defence or attacks. The more Megaman fights in a certain way, the more styles you can unlock.

Sound: There are new music added to the game but the sound effects still remain the same.

Megaman Battle Network 2 does make the series move on forward, but there isn’t really any new presentation added to the game which makes it feel the same as the last game, just with new levels and bosses. Another problem is that the Bosses are insanely difficult and the fact that they can randomly appear in the net makes dieing a lot easier, and also just like the previous game, Megaman can only get stronger by giving him Power Ups, which can either be found or bought in the shop for massive prices, even if you beat a difficult boss you will likely only get around 500z, which slows the pacing of the game very much.
Never the less, this game is still recommendable for RPG fans and if you liked the last game you should get this one, but prepare yourself for a frustrating experience.
