Mega Man 2 is a challenging and addictive NES classic that has never gottten old, even after 15+ years of playing time!

User Rating: 10 | Rockman 2: Dr. Wily no Nazo NES
For many, Mega Man 2 was the high point in the original series, which spanned across eight titles on the NES, Super NES, and the PlayStation. The story plays out as the evil Dr. Wily once again wages war on mankind by creating eight new robot masters, which terrorize all different parts of the world. It's up to the heroic Mega Man to track down the robot masters, put a stop to their destruction, and end Wily's war against humanity.

The sequel broke off from the standard NES level formula, and actually allowed you to choose the order of the stages in which you played them. The stages were challenging, brilliantly designed, and each had their own different theme that went along with the robot master's special abilities. The bosses at the end of each stage were all challenging and addicting to battle. They each had their own specific type of weapon that you could obtain if you defeated them. This made choosing the level you wanted to embark on next a much more thought provoking experience, since the weapon you gained from the previous boss would weaken one in another stage. It was up to the player to figure out the best and easiest path to take down all the robot masters.

The continuously playing music tracks featured throughout the levels of Mega Man 2 were some of the most memorable and catchy tunes out of all the NES games in existence. I still find myself even to this day humming Bubble Man's stage tune. Now that's some powerful old school music!

The gameplay formula for Mega Man 2 is absolutely perfect, which is probably why the franchise has used it in so many future sequels. Mega Man 2 is both a challenging and addictive NES classic that has never gotten old, even after 15+ years of playing time!
