A five year old game hiding behind a different title and presentation- what could go wrong?

Jumping into Airborne one notices a few nice touches at the beginning that might get any normal person to believe that they are about to have a really great experience. So considering this I went in with as little knowledge of the game as possible and went as far as avoiding the fact that it was initially designed with Xbox 360 hardware in mind more so than any PC. So here I am 7 hours later thinking: "Why did World War II just become a joke to Electronic Arts?" I mean from beginning to end cut scenes are cringe worthy, music is over-dramatic to the point of making a sane person gag, and the voice acting is either repetitive or just plain stupid. Its one bizarre glitch wrapped around a game that simply doesn't work. The autosave feature is incredibly obnoxious, "parachuting in" every time you spawn is immensely tedious, and the AI is complete balls. I haven't played something this disappointing and rough around the edges since Pacific Assault. Yet, even Pacific Assault was 5 times the game Airborne was. The levels are sprawling, but they're aren't many things to do, you're AI buddies are useless, they leave everything up to one person (namely you), and I literally couldn't stop laughing at how atrocious some of the sections were. To anyone who can't seem to understand what I'm talking about, please refer to the 4th and 5th missions of the game where you encounter machine gun wielding Nazi's in bodysuits and gas masks that require 15 bullets to the head to kill.
"Hey I know, you know what was totally not real, but we should put into the game because kids these days will get bored if we don't? Lets put in elite Nazi troops that shoot rocket launchers at you!"

(AND they did)

I was amazed by how generic they made the entire series, it even feels like I'm playing Allied Assault, but obviously a very buggy Allied Assault with a slight graphical upgrade. The textures are ugly, the game plays like crap, none of the guns sound right no matter what the designers mentioned in the reviews, the motion blur is unnecessary, the expert difficulty is terrifyingly unfair, the normal difficulty is too easy, the guns all feel off, the Thompson is useless, the Garand is useless, and I swear to god someone better explain why the MP40 is the best gun to use in every mission or so help me.....

Its filled with cancerous consolitis all over the place and frankly maybe its time someone else stepped in to explain why we don't need to make campy stupid pandering action games about a serious historical conflict like World War II.
