max payne is a stylish, dark and intense shooter. absolutely crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BAD: loading times are a bit long
on a first note, this game is really really old, so the quirks with the game, are purely because of the age. max payne should be loved for the classic it is!
Max Payne is AWESOME!!!!! I'm going to tell you why.
Max Payne is an NYPD cop who's living the American dream. A beautiful wife, an amazing baby daughter, life couldn't be better. Until one day he comes home only to find out that his baby girl and wife have been murdered by a bunch of drug addicts.
After this he joins the DEA and this is where things progress.
The gameplay is fast and the atmospheres are dark and disturbing. Max Payne looks a little weird though... one face texture the whole time, they could have made him look more serious and disturbed instead of a constipated maniac. but nowadays, the game is very dated, so these little gimmicks were just normal back then. but for its time, the graphics were top notch. There is also feature called bullet time, which slows down reality, but your aim is in real time which makes Max almost invincible. Basically you run around shooting anything that gets into your way which is REALLY fun. They also make these weird, pathetic screams which made me laugh. But when you die its a different story. first of all, it takes about ten seconds for you to actually die, and then comes a loong loading screen. quite normal back then, but now, your patience will be tested. but i think we need to love max payne for the classic it is.
The controls are easy to get and its really not too hard to finish.
The cutscenses are done with comic panels, narrated with Max's dark, poetic voice that we've all come to love. Some of these are even disturbing (but I'm really not good with creepy stuff so this might mean nothing to you). The dream sequences are especially creepy, where you have to play through Max's haunting nightmares about his family's demise.
The plot is intriguing and intense, with twists around every corner, it will keep you coming back for more.
There is only one problem with Max Payne, and that is that it is far too short. This is not good at all so really everyone will be hanging out for more sequels. But you can play it over and over again if you want... I guess....
Overall, Max Payne is the best game ever!!!!!!!!!! If you want a fast, haunting and epic shooter... look for Max Payne, I highly recommend it.
