The best 3rd person shooter to date.

This game is brilliant. Very adult, very gritty and a lot of fun. The story is a combination of Max Payne's original storyline mixed in with a bit of Heat, Tropa de Elite, Phil Campion's Born Fearless and some Die Hard for good measure.

The thing I love most though is the gunplay. The guns sound realistic and feel substantial. You appreciate every pistol and rifle for their power and unique properties. Nothing feels like filler.

Complementing the guns is their effect on human bodies; when bullets hit a bad guy it feels satisfying and there is a real weight behind them. Rockstar did a stellar job with the body animations and corpse physics.

Likes:

1. Excellent story and voice acting. Definitely aimed at mature audiences.
2. Brilliant control mechanics. Character animations look fluid and realistic.
3. Physics engine adds to the overall immersion.
4. Soundtrack is awesome.

Dislikes:

1. Lack of a 'free play' unlock mode where you can choose your any weapon on any level.

Much to like, little to dislike. This game ranks among my all-time greats of this gen.
