THE CLASSIC

In 1995 the world was different: somewhat more compact and still friendlier. So is this game: MoM offers potentially hundreds of hours of addictive gameplay, combining elements of civilization with turn-based fights in the style of Heroes of Might and Magic.

MoM's spell-system with 6 schools and over 100 spells (as far as I remember) even surpasses its heirs like Age of Wonders. The different races have their own traits and starting cities. You can craft your of items which might takes dozens of turns if you want "epic" qualities. The maps can be randomly generated and still offer tactical depth and complexity.

Of course sound and graphics are outdated by now - but the game makes up for that by its infinite flexibility: You can customize your wizard, your troops, your cites - just about everything. I tend to think that today's publisher's would scrap the concept of MoM telling the developer to make 3 games instead of 1...

This might well be the reason why I am still waiting for the game that combines the flexibility and epic broadness of this CLASSIC with current sound and graphics.
