A 10 before and a 10 again

User Rating: 10 | Mass Effect Legendary Edition PC

This review is of ME2: LE only because ME2 in my opinion is far better than Nos 1 & 3, so when the remaster came out I decided I had to play ME2 first.

When I played the original in 2010 I gave this game a 10. I reinstalled it last year and thought how old it looked and how clunky it was to play. I then learned a remaster was coming this year and I was immediately excited. Anyway Bioware have not let us down - this really feels like a fresh new game and it puts Cyberpunk to shame. The game has had a great graphical overhaul compared to the original, although character models still look really old. That aside the story and gameplay is immense and this title is up there with the Witcher 3 as being the best RPG's ever made. The space science behind the game is immense and it really feels more Star Trek than anything else - I absolutely love it.

The remaster has also much improved the controls and combat and it is now much easier to play on PC.

This is one of those games you simply don't want to put down.

Edit - A year later (May 2022) I'm playing through Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition - yeah its still fantastic, all the old friends return - Liana, Mordin, Garrus and its a blast. Feels a bit clunky but the story telling , lore and voice acting is amazing. The remastered graphics make the game look really good but it is no where near up to the standard of current games given today's graphics technology. ME3 isn't as good as ME2 due to the fact it is very repetitive with landing on a planet, kill Cerberus soldiers go back to the Normandy ship, speak to Admiral Hackett, check email, rinse and repeat. It's also very long - 65 hours with all 4 DLC so the repetitive nature does get tiresome after a bit and really this game should have been half as long. There are also a lot of boring run around filler missions in the Citadel home base in the middle of the game. The mini games have gone and there is no planet scanning for resources. The story just does not have the same depth as ME2, however it still is great fun to play.

Really is one of the best game series ever made.

I play in 4k ultra settings and get 105-120fps
