Lacking content and modes make the single player experience dull. Only good to play with friends or in tourneys.
Sure, features/modes don't make a great game but they sure can make it last long or make you more interested. The gameplay itself is pretty good. Fast paced action with lots of flashy effects and rainbows shooting out of your screen.
It's a very fun game to play with friends and it's very user friendly. It's really easy to chain together combos and the depth is there if you choose to delve deeper into the fighting system.
The games roster feels a little... Weird. A lot of fan favorites were taken out of this game and they made way with a lot of obscure and unknown characters. Theres a lot of characters to choose from but a lot of people will feel like it's very limited since most of the favorites are missing.
But they did include some of the popular new Capcom faces like Dante, Viewtiful Joe and Amatarasu. I didn't really like the characters they added from Marvel. Super Skrull? Modok? Never heard of them. Only hardcore Marvel fans will recognize them.
It's sad playing this game by yourself because you're only given a few modes to play offline. It's as if they neglected the entire offline modes. There's a mission mode for those that wanna learn some advanced combos but that isn't even helpful since it doesn't show you what it will look like nor does it help newbies get into it.
This is a game that's more tailored for competitions/tourneys or casual matches, not for regular people that just wanna play the game by themselves. Another horrible fact is that Capcom locked Jill and Shuma so that you have to pay money to purchase them just to unlock them. There's some locked content on the disc but the only way of getting it is through purchase.
What happened to the good old days when we used to unlock outfits/characters without the need of paying real money for it? I could go on about what this game is lacking but I'll stop there. Best to wait for this game to go down to a dirt cheap price before you get it unless you're really that hardcore about this game.
