In the 5 years that i've been playing Mario games, never have I found a SINGLE Mario game boring... until i played this game!!!
Mario Sports Mix is a game i bought on a Saturday 5th February 2011. I played the game a lot, I beat the Cups, I unlocked the character and variable suits etc. But the game to me just didn't feel enjoyable at all which is a shame because I really was excited for it. The sports range from boring to quite fun, especially the Basketball and Hockey events, but the rest were boring as hell!! The AI was in most areas too easy or too cheap to where they would constantly attack or they would spam a certain move way too often. The mini-games were sort of fun but Harmony Hustle was my favorite mini-game out of all of them. The Wi-Fi was decent as well because that was when the action was upped due to the fact you are facing online opponents. But the online could have done without the region locking because I felt it wasn't necessary seeing as games like Mario Kart Wii did not do this.
I once watched a video of UltraNick24 playing Mario Slam Basketball for the Nintendo DS and I found out that the gameplay for Basketball was pretty much the same which meant that Nintendo and Square Enix did not put a lot of effort into making any variety gameplay wise.
Overall, on a Mario Sports level, it is very subpar considering we have had great Mario Sports games like Mario Power Tennis, Mario Golf and Mario Baseball. This game is a disappointment since Nintendo and Square Enix can make good games because they did with Super Mario RPG, but it just did not happen with this game.
