Mario Party 8 seems like deja vu at times, while utilizing the Wii Remote's motion sensor technology, it repeats the same game patterns, play boards, do a single player challenge, or play minigame mode to win points to spend on prizes. The Extras mode lets you use your Miis in special minigames. The minigames are creative, and can get you moving on certain ones. I do agree with Gamespot on this point, the course of the game is way too much about luck, not skill. The game boards have different ways to get stars, like all other mario party games. These boards can be challenging to get stars sometimes, like when you invest coins in hotels, the more coins in it, the more it is worth, but others can buy it out from under your nose, and you have to buy it back again. The regular board is probably the best, as all you have to do is race to the star space to get the most before you run out of turns. Mario Party 8 is like its ancestors in too many ways, although, it could be a nice addition for a collector.
