Once I got the controls down, this game was great.
Well I'm reviewing another Mario sports game, and it's basketball. Let's see how it turned out.
Basically the game is a three on three match of baseball, although this is nothing like a normal match. Like all Mario sports games, there is extra stuff added. In each match, you have the ball, and you have to try to shoot it in the other team's basket. Now each shot will give you 20 points, but if you collect coins, you can get more points. You can collect coins in various ways, but you shouldn't bank them for too long. You can also slam-dunk and spin in the air to grab coins when shooting, but the catch is you'll be open to attack. Oops! I just spoiled another part.
There are also items you get when dribbling on ? Blocks. Some are used on yourself, and some you can throw at others. These will stun a player. Sometimes, coins will fall out and you can steal them! You can also tackle other players.
The graphics are fine for a DS game. They don't look too bad.
As I said in my review deck, I had some trouble getting the controls down. However, I did stick with it, and got used to it. You use the buttons and the control pad and the touch screen. The buttons are used to control your character, and the touch screen is used to shoot.
There are different modes to play, such as exhibition, tourney, minigames, and multiplayer. One gripe I had with multiplayer is that you can't play online.
Mario Hoops 3 on 3 is a good game that you should definently try out, even if you don't like basketball.
This game gets a 7.5 out of 10 with the title of Good.
