Great game from Lucas Arts

User Rating: 9.6 | Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle PC
Gameplay: Day of the Tentacle follows the point-and-click 2-D adventure game formula, first established by the original Maniac Mansion. So you start off the game like this. A Purple Tentacle, one of crazy Dr. Fred's Crazy creations, consums contaminated water from Dr. Fred's Sludge'o'matic, Then it mutates into an insane genius and grows many arms. Now he's plotting to take over the world (As Usuall). In to try to stop him, Dr. Fred sends the three insane friends, Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne back in time to yesterday, in order for them to turn off the Sludge'o'matic and to stop the sludge from spilling into the river. But the cheap doctor uses a fake diamond over a real one in his time machine, which blows up sending Hoagie 200 years into the past and Laverne 200 years into the future. So you pretty much work your way though out the game from there.
The puzzles are fair such that you cannot find yourself stuck too long at any one place. You can freely explore around for fun without fear of dying in the game. This game is also has humorous dialogues that poke fun of popular pop culture. Graphics:The graphics are amazing and was one of the best back in the day. Even by today’s standard, this game has a polished look. The Graphics are drawn so it's pretty much cartoon graphics but very nice too look at and is colorful.

Sound: Like all LucasArts games, Day of the Tentacle has all the dialogues are well acted.. Purple Tentacle sounds appropriately evil, Bernard nerdy, Music also blends in perfectly with the atmosphere the game.

Value: All in all this is a very fun game that should not be missed. The story is very humorous and the graphics are nice to look at. There is a free hint book is also included when you buy the game. As a bonus, the CD ROM enhanced edition includes the original classic Maniac Mansion as a game within a game. It's a rare game now so you will probably have to find it on ebay or some site that sells old games.
