Wonderful little thing

User Rating: 8 | Mandagon PC

Mandagon is a beautiful, sort of puzzle-platformer adventure game.

It is difficult to write about it without spoiling the game, because part of the fun is figuring out what is this all about, what do you need to do, and what does it all mean. In a way, in terms of narrative, it resembles Dark Souls - you are given bits and pieces that come together to form a meaning behind the game.

The visuals are beautiful and I guess that I missed a lot by not knowing more about Tibetan beliefs and symbols that the game utilises as it's thematic background. Throughout that the game tells its unique story.

Mandagon is not difficult, not very challenging, it is not even long. The whole game is pretty much a single level that can be beaten within 40 minutes including the time for figuring out your goal and mechanics.

It is free on Steam, but now after completing it, not only I want to play it again, but I want to give my money to the people who created such a wonderful thing. (There's a paid DLC with music and artwork, so there's a way).

If, like me, you don't really have time and patience for lengthy games (30+ hours) - this might just be for you.
