Magicka is a very unique package you won't find anywhere else, anywhere...
You play as a wizard student who can control 8 different elements: fire, water, ice, earth, life, arcane, shield, and electricity. The cool thing about these elements is that you can mix and match them to create spells on the fly that work good or bad against different types of monsters you will find throughout the game, which adds variety to the game.
Though the graphics aren't the best around, but this is an Indie game that was originally made as a school project, and the graphics work for this game and don't impede the game in any way. Sometimes the camera can be a little iffy and be annoying at times but these times are not often and aren't a big deal when they do come up.
Magicka's story isn't the greatest or most enthralling, but it makes various funny references and the whole dialogue is in Swedish except for the dialogue boxes, of course, which gives the game character, it's also a decently long campaign for an indie title, with about 6-7 hours of gameplay, and this campaign is nothing but hard, the later levels of the game are extremely unforgiving and challenging if you aren't quick on your feet and know what spell combinations you need to win.
Spell combinations are a certain order you have to arrange the 8 dominions of spells that you control in order to do a special spell that can give you increased movement speed to summoning death himself to 1 shot your enemies, these require memorization and timing if you wish to master them, for they are very powerful and are sometimes require to complete certain areas of the game, or make them easier.
There is a multiplayer component to Magicka, and this game is one of the best to play in multiplayer; the game's very mechanics can lead to funny accidents that will send your friends flying into the air or explode without warning, making for hilarious deaths. Multiplayer isn't very well integrated into the game but it is worth the trouble to getting a couple of friends to play through the campaign with and laughing it up through this engrossing title, that, quite frankly, you should give a try because the gameplay in Magicka, you will not find anywhere else.
