A game that somehow manage to dissapoint without a whole lot of expectations

User Rating: 3 | Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 X360

All I knew about Magic: Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2015 was this, it was the new yearly release. I played all of the previous versions on Xbox, but if I had know that it was this bad and known more about it, I probably wouldnt have bought it. But point was, that was all I was expecting (Hey a new DOTP, should be fun), cause I guess I would be one of the few who would not get upset if it didnt have your own deck builder. Also sorry about incomg diarreha of the mouth (I will probably rant)

This is the first time in sevreal years I have bought something that I regret, it really takes a lot for me to regret buying something. cause to me a lot of games have some good elements in them that I dont regret trying or seeing, even if they are not perfect + also I usally get my games cheap, yet this game again somehow manage to make me regret buying it even though it doesnt cost much, and that is amazing. It takes immensly much to upset me in anykind of way, hell I lost my temper just once in life, even though I have plenty of reasons to be mad. But point is, I just want to explain this as good I can from a personal view, but in both a logical and emotional way sort of, why this is a dissapointment, why this game is bad in my opinion that is. But okay. the bad stuff.

- No more two headed giant (co-op)
- No more yearly added bonus modes, like archenemy, planechase etc.
- No challenge mode or anything else beside campaign, practice duel (1vs1, 1vs1vs1 or 1vs1vs1vs1) and multiplayer

- worst fricken user interface ever!!. It takes longer to just start a game than it does for the game in the original DOTP on xbox arcarde to load (which most who has played know, takes a while), in all other previous installement it didnt take half a century to start a match (yes im exaggerating, but thats how it feels like compared to previous versions, cause it just goes.. soo so... damn slow!), but not everything either, you can press the button 4-5 times without anything happening, you think you clicked and are waiting for the screen to change, but nope. That can add another 10-20seconds if u dont pay attention.

- Most buggy release so far. I played all the yearly relases and I dont recall much of any bugs, usally minor glitches here and there, but not nothing big or serious, but here however. I encountered bugs that has nearly ruined the game and made me lose. Like the enemy AI gets their health bar stuck at say 15lives, and for me once (it has happen more then once for me) I was fighting a lifelinker/healer sort of, so his lifebar never stood still, but the health bar/number was stuck on 15, so I had no idea how much life he had and I thought I would kill him this round (although I started to doubt if he could die at all, if he had somehow become immortal so I almost reset the game), but he somehow survied my attack and nearly killed me instead, but thankfully I got him on my next attack, with his life still stuck on 15 when I won. This nearly made me lose the game, just cause of a bug, but not the only bug I experienced either. I was in another match vs the AI where just in the second or third round one of his flyer with 1/1 turned into a 52/1 (52 attack and 1 life, for those who dont know you start with 30life, so this could instantly kill you), luckily I somehow manage to win still, but it was no reason whatsoever that creature he had was supposed to have 52 attack already in second or third round. Yet another bug that just out of pure luck I was able to win both of these examples, and without a doubt, this would be less fun if you actually lost to such a silly bug/mistake like that. *puh*, anyway end rant*.

- Microtransactions /pay to win. Im not much of a multiplayer ill admit, I hardly play any forms of multiplayer, I prefer single, so this in that sence doesnt really affect me, other then the principle, cause paying to win, in a game like this, created like this.. is just.. bad, bad taste. Cause I can put myself in the shoes of a newcomer for example, what would they think if this is the first DOTP game they try?, that they have to throw their wallet at them and pay ridiculous amounts (more then the main game cost), to be able to compete with people who has bought them? (cause no doubt somebody does), its just gonna feel unfair, and stupid, when you have a game that the entire purpose in this one is to farm cards for single player use or to for example use online then, only to find out, you did something utterly and completly useless. Cause people can buy cards that is not in the game or teased in the game even and they would win, simply cause they spent more money then you on the game. Cause that has clearly even been the focus here, to farm cards, yet offer them all for a huge price if ur lazy, which fine, they have done that with the previous versions too, but to have cards that you cant win in the game yourself is just simply unfair, which leads me to the next point.

- only 250 cards in the free version, or well no, without paying any extra then just for the game. Cause after winning all of them, I cant help but sit and wonder while looking through the cards "oh I wish they had this, I wish they had that", cards that would have been very useful for my build that I seen in previous DOTP entries. It just feels like there is a lot missing, even on purpose to let you build the deck you want. Cause they might be tucked away in the premium cards, I dont know, cause I honestly havent bought them, I refuse to support that in any sence. I only wish I actually knew more about this game before I bought it, how stripped away it was for everything, cause then I wouldnt have bought it. Cause in all of them, what I played the most has been Two headed giant, and that for me is a huge loss.

+ Creating your deck and trying to get your perfect build can be fun an addicting

As far as "farming" go, they could have done it worse in my opinion, but also better no doubt, you dont really know what you get from either realm/world. So dont really lean either way, and since I manage somewhat fine through the starter deck thing (which I know a lot of people have complained about that being too hard if u choose the wrong deck, to the point of impossible to progress in the game). I didnt have a problem like that really, although no doubt was tricky to win this one fight, just pure luck I won eventually. But since again not too bad, dont lean either way for me, but no doubt this would be a huge issue for some. So this is my opinion and experience with the game. Im sure I could go on, but Im sure you fed up by now whoever that might be reading :).

But yeah, I dont recommend it, sadly. I give it 3/10
