Madden 95 definetly plays a good game of football, but the idiotic AI keeps it from being great.

Madden 95 is the fourth game in the long running best selling franchise. The controls are all great and it plays well with a friend; but the AI is just too forgiving to offer much of a challenge at all.

The gameplay in Madden is great. You have a large number of plays to choose from, and you can control your players very well. The graphics are nothing special, but their not horrible. Their are neat little features too, like playing in the snow or at night. The players all look the same except team colours and jersey numbers, but this is pretty much expected from a SNES sports title. The sound features some cheesy up tempo music during the menus, and crowd noises and Madden quotes during the actual gameplay. "He's gonna feel that one tomorrow!" There are a few modes in Madden 95. First, you have exhibition. This can be played against a friend, with a friend, or against the AI. Again, this is where the game loses major points. The AI isn't just forgiving, it's downright stupid. Every punt can be returned for a touchdown. You can even simply run to the wrong end, watch them all run after you, then simply run along the side lines to score an amazing touchdown. It can be fun doing this, but after awhile, you start to wish for a challenge. There's also Sudden Death, which is just playing untill somebody scores a touchdown. And then theres the road to the Super Bowl in the Season mode, which is well done.

Overall, Madden 95 is a solid football game being dragged down by it's ridiculously ease. It's good for multiplayer, and you'll have fun watching the computer's controlled players sometimes running in circles for no apparent reason but madness. It's recommendable to fans of the series who would like to see an early rendition of the game, or anyone itching for a good multiplayer sports title.
