This game takes a little getting used to, but it's worth the effort.

User Rating: 8.5 | Madden NFL 06 PS2
I have Madden 2004, and I played that through several seasons in the Franchise Mode. I really like 2004, it is a well-made game and the Franchise Mode can be fun and challenging. I then picked up Madden 06, and I can say in many respects, this game is better than 2004, or even NFL 2K3 or 2K2, both of which I own and have played a lot.
The first thing that you will notice about 06 is that the animation of play is more fluid and realistic than 04. Little things like players jumping over players after the tackle has been made are a nice improvement.
Franchise Mode is pretty much the same, expect for a few changes. Players now have a grade if they are liking their team or not. If you have a lot of players not wanting to be on the team, it will effect their play. Also, if your team has a lot of upset players, free-agents will not want to sign with you, making picking up free agents harder. Also, trading for other players is more realistic, and you often times end up over-paying for good players, just like in real life. This makes it harder, but a little more realistic and challenging. Another cool thing is that the opposing teams play much harder and better in the playoffs, and there is an actual celebration when you win the Super Bowl, not just a message at the bottom the screen, (2K3), saying you won the Super Bowl. I have not tried the SuperStar mode yet, but I pretty much stick to Franchise anyway. 06 is an improvement over 04, and if you liked 04 you owe it to yourself to get 06. -later, randarama
