Laserdisc games are falling down the line with games like Time Gal, Road Avenger and the god awful Night Trap. Amercian Laser Games on the other hand has had fairly decent results with their arcade FMV Quality which are best seaved in the arcade envrioment. Console ports haven't nessersorly been given the right treatment when it comes to quality. For Mad Dog II on the Mega CD (which is a follow up from Mad Dog McCree) the same "Shoot and Not be Shot" gameplay won't bring much new to the table.

Mad Dog returns after showhow surviving his first headshot from the first game and this time he hires a group of Indians to help him reach the Spanish Treasure. Well you can't expect anything out of the ordinary for this typical Cowboys and Indians sort of stuff. At least you have 3 different Guides to choose from and their Levels are fairely different which allows for Multiple paths to experince. You can expect the same goofy acting if you played the orginal but sometimes can be amusing like watching a random Bad Guy fall from the Stairs or watching another guy fall face first into the mud but those are only worth watching first time.

You can take the experince alone or with a friend but other both Players alternate between turns and it switches over to the other player whenever the one Player fails a Level. You get three Lives and you get a Limited set of Continues depending on which difficulty you play it on and I can imagine you losing plenty of times because there's times you can't see a guy untill it's too late, you might shot a clivian by mistake cause the quality isn't clear enough for you to see one running away. Just like the orginal one mistake and your taken to meet the Undertaker who critizies your skills at this game before restarting the Level again. A pointless feature is that whenever you fail a Level you'll be taken to the Guide selection screen.

The Gameplay is the same as the orginal, you just wait for one guy to pop up and stick their gun at your face for you to load a Bullet into them before he shoots you. There's also Clivians to watch out for and as already mentioned you'll accidentally shoot one sooner or later because the pixelation of the Mega CD Hardware fools you into thinking that theres a Bad Guy there when it wasn't. You can play with either the Controller, the Menacer, the Mouse or the Amercian Laser Games Gun which is exclousive to their Laser Disc titles. There's issues that you'll want to take note off when using either Light Gun. There's a gulitch which either the game will freeze up at a certain point when played on the Sega CD 1 Model or a Gulitch where it would take you back to the Boot Screen on the Sega CD 2 Model. Strangely it doesn't happen when the Standard Controller is used. If you can somehow play fine with the Controller then you'll might be able to beat it in less then hour, the ending however without spoiling everything depends on your performance in the game.

The Quality has improved a little which makes it a little better to see the game but it has still has some pixelation which makes some Targets harder to see. The FMV acting is till awful but at least it's amusing to watch at least once alongside the Voicework. The soundtrack is okay but in between Shooting a Bad Guy down the Music pauses for a brief moment.

If you looking to uncover any of Mad Dog's Treasure then what you seek is only disapointment. Your only tresure hidden inside is a lousy Wild West shooter that has awful hit detection and glitches when the Light Gun is used. Lethal Enforcers both on Mega Drive and Mega CD are better choices along with Lethal Enforcers II on the same systems.

The Good Points:
1. Multiple Paths to choose from
2. Dumb Acting which is only fun to watch once

The Bad Points:
1. The Graphic quality while better but still it's hard to see where your enemies are
2. The Game gulitches when the Light Gun is used
3. The Amercian Laser Games Gun still only works with their own Games
