A touching, romantic adventure - that I am glad I picked up

I have to admit, I was immediately attracted to this game because of its retro, anime graphics. I had seen pictures years ago in import magazines of Lunar but I had never played it or knew that it was translated in english. When it was recently re-released for the psp I was excited to finally get my hands on it (it was a must for my collection - and I was not disappointed).

Graphics/Story:
The sprites/graphics were slightly changed from the original versions (as I could see from old screen-shots on the internet) - resulting in a fresh, colorful update. The character designs were great and I am glad they kept the retro look!! I actually prefer older anime and seeing it in a game is so rare. The cut-scenes were awesome and worth the wait - fully animated and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Being able to review some of them over again was neat with the Reminiscer item ^.^
Some people complain of the voice-acting and some annoying characters - I have to admit that Nall's voice sometimes grated on my ears. But other than that I enjoyed the entire experience. The only thing I wish was included is an option to hear the songs of the game in Japanese - I would have liked to have heard the original soundtrack :)
The story was sweet and heart-felt. I think it is fun for anyone. Being a female, I throughly enjoyed the romantic undertones XD
But that doesnt mean that male players wouldnt enjoy it as well... :P

Gameplay:
Pretty basic fighting system that is easy to understand and it didn't take long to find out what attacks work best on which enemies. Lots of grinding needed to level appropriately. Pretty straightforward and linear to follow - I never needed a walkthrough to complete the game ---however, there are many game secrets that I missed out on (because I never knew about places to go at particular times in the game; and for that I would definently need a walkthrough). Replayability seems moderate for me. I would have to not really remember the game story to play it over again and when that time comes I think I would try to get all the secret items..
No multiplayer but I am not disappointed and I think its a classic that really touched my heart!
