A good game with a convoluted but interesting plot and fun gameplay.

Lost Planet is a third person shooter from Cap Com.The campaign takes place on an icy planet called E.D.N. III and it is infested with an alien species called the Akrid. You are Wayne, a snow pirate who was found buried in the snow. The rest of the plot becomes very convoluted, but in such a way that you want to see where it goes. Although there are some problems with some aspects of the story, and I thought it was to short, and had a bad ending. The characters are somewhat good and the voice acting is solid. The action in the cut scenes look great. Now on to the gameplay. One of my main criticism of the gameplay is the necessity of T-eng. I find it a pointless and annoying addition to the game. Although in hindsight I realize it is necessary to the game's plot. It is also in my opinion that the game has a bad control scheme. Usually in a game, the fire button is R1. In this game it is R2. I like R1 better because it feels like it is in the right spot. Also, instead of R1 being fire, it turns your character to the right, and L1 to the left. I think that was a really bad idea that helps me in no way whatsoever. There are a varied amount of weapons to pick from, and there are these things called Vital Suits that are big mechs that are fun to play in. The Vital Suits come plentiful in variety and weaponry. You also have a grapple hook that is fun to use. The enemy AI for the Akrid is ok ( the Akrid are animal-type aliens that only have themselves as weapons) and the human AI is horrible. The missions have some variety in scenery and the boss battles are fun. The graphics are pretty good and the scenery is pretty to look at. And it is true that the PS3 version is inferior to it's other platform siblings because I was at my friend's house looking over his PC version of it, and it had a significant amount of extra content such as weapons, playable characters in multi-player ( you can play as the Akrid in it ) and multi-player modes. Overall, Lost Planet is a fun but short romp of a campaign, and the multi player is fun. Although there are some flaws, it is way better than it is worse.
