In a time where JRPGs are failing, this is a diamond in the rough

I had very little expectations for Lost Odyssey before I had played it. Honestly I was just thinking that another ex Square member is going to try to make a Final Fantasy game and fail at it while bashing whatever Square is doing. I'll be the first to admit that Square has fallen from grace in my eyes when it comes to JRPG games. Maybe the reason they have though is because the person responsible for Lost Odyssey is no longer with them. This game shines in every single way possible. The gameplay brings back the feels of the classic JRPG games I grew up with. This is easily the best JRPG I have played since Final Fantasy X and could quite possibly be even better than that. The story is about a man who is immortal and through unlocking events, you get to read stories from his years he has been alive. Some of these stories are deep and touching enough to make anyone want to shed a tear or two. The main plot of the story is well thought out and has enough depth to keep you wrapped up in this world for many hours. You can't over level in this game and make the next area too easy which just adds to the difficulty and is another reason I love this game. The music is brilliant and the sound effects work great with the game. This is my most underrated game of this generation and I feel that it doesn't get the love it rightfully deserves. If there was only one JRPG I could play this gen, without a question or second thought, this would be it. If you haven't experienced this game yet, I highly recommend that you do. This is truly a diamon in the rough.
