Addictively amusing but the bubble soon bursts.

I wanted to review something this wek, and since I'm yet to complete Army of Two 100%, this is what I'm left with, a game that is sitting on my hard drive that hasn't been touched in a while. And by the way, I use the term "game" loosely throughout this entire review as it isn't what I'd exactly call a "game".

I love Loco Roco, it is easily one of the best games on PSP, yeah Gamespoy foolishly gave it a 7.6 or something insane like that but they obviously have no sense of decency or taste in games. Sorry to side step but Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Everybody's Golf and Dark Sector a 7.5, SKATE 7.0 and Army of Two 6.5 and if you ask me all of those games atleast deserve to be upped by one point. Sorry Gamespot but your scores suck half the time.

Anyway, Loco Roco PSP, an inasanely addictive, colourful and enjoyable blob 'em up that was for a while the bench mark of PSP gaming (until Patapon and God of War, Chains of Olympus) and for their first outing on PS3, Loco Roco weren't introduced as a game but an "interactive screensaver" what ever the hell that means. To be honest, it's somehwere between the two.

A lot of the time their feels a lack of true focus or want for completeing the level as it is fairly expansive, and for Loco Roco, shorter stages work a lot more enjoyably. By the end of it, it feels like you walked up Ben Nevis and back as you wait for around 500 Loco Roco to reach the finish. It took way to long.

The six axis controls are a bit rubbish to and the fact you don't tilt the world this time but in fact lead the Loco Roco's using a small sparkly butterfly makes no sense whatsoever and feels extremely tedious. The triggers should have tilted the world, and the fact it didn't, that's a major blow to the franchise.

It wants you to do a lot, it seems a lot more like micro management this time and stresses you out and the lack of any save points is ridiculous, this is one big level which could take 2 hours to complete but if you give up half way, next time you'll have to start again. All that work, lost.

On the up side, it looks teriffic in HD, all the colours and bright and vibrant and everything looks extremely crisp and sharp. It's musically engrossing as the Loco Roco's sing their tune in chorus as you collect more and more and there is a fair few hidden areas to discover.

Overall, Loco Roco Cocoreecho oozes charm like some gooey cough sweet but this is let down by the overall control set up and scrapping of the tilt world function. Lack of save points and lengthy level design means the charm soon wears thin and red, angry faces soon emerge.
