Probably the worst soccer managing game in the last decade.

User Rating: 2.6 | LMA Manager 2007 PC
Living in a country in which soccer is the main sport, puts me in an excellent position to review a soccer game, especially one based in management. Sadly, I have seen terrible games based on this genre, all of them quickly forgotten, but always leaving a bad taste. I thought LMA 2007 would be the exception... sort of.

Let's make this clear for those unfamiliar with soccer: Making a database with player's names, that's the easy part. Making a system which allows you to buy and sell players from different teams, that's also the easy part. Then, where's the hard part? Exactly at the same place where ALL the "manager games" have completely failed: The AI. LMA 2007 is the most catastrophic example of an embarrassing AI system, and all who worked on this should hit their heads against the nearest wall, resign, and then, actually play some soccer, to see and feel how a player really behaves in the field. Just an example: I have chosen the italian Palermo team, and lost my first match against Torino 3-0. Then I reloaded the game, used EXACTLY the same tactics, and somehow I won 2-1. The meaning? It doesn't matter what you do, the AI can make you win or lose, just like that. Lousy long passes with no destination and, usually ending out of the field, the keeper reacting two or three seconds after the ball passed him, players passing the ball to partners outside the field, corner kicks automatically thrown out, the incredible failure of all teams to make three or four passes in a row, and the list goes on.

I will make an effort to forget this game, I really will. I'm sad, I'm angry, and I ask for once in my life, to see a soccer managing game, with the AI of, at least, one of the Pro Evolution Soccer games. If you see this game in a store, be afraid. Be very afraid.
