Like a beautiful dream!

User Rating: 9.5 | Little Nemo: The Dream Master NES
"Little Nemo - The Dream Master" was one of my first NES-Games besides "Mega Man 2" and "Duck Tales" and it seemed that Capcom tried to maintain a high standard in NES Games development.

You play the young boy Nemo, who has to liberate the dream world slumberland from the influences of the nightmare king who, of course, wants to turn slumberland into a nightmare world. So you travel through your own dreams, which are populated with lots of creatures, mostly hostile animals. But there are also friendly ones, which can be fed with candy. If you do that, they fall asleep and you can slip into their bodies and use their special abilities, which you mostly need to complete the levels: The mole can dig through the ground, the lizard can climb walls and slip through smaller gaps, the bee can fly and shoot stings etc. You need this special powers to find all small keys in each level to open the door at the end of it, every door has a different amount of locks.

The original was a beautiful fairytale and the game manages to catch its atmosphere: The level design is awesome and you are always struck that you travelled directly into a child`s dream: A gloomy mushroom forest, an enchanting flower garden, a city above the clouds... and so on. Nevertheless, the game looks not in any time childish, just fascinating.
The graphics are typical Capcom: Colorful, sharp and detailed. The music is convincing as well and fits to the different dream sequences.
Controls are simple and uncomplicated. Hit the A button for a jump and B to throw your candy. That`s it.

To conclude, "Little Nemo" is definately a must-buy for your NES console.
