Don't be fooled by the simple premise, Little Inferno is a blast to play!

I managed to secure this game into my collection by buying the Humble Indie Bundle 8. I was completely unaware of this games existence, and I only got the bundle because Thomas Was Alone and Hotline Miami were in the bundle. After trying out Thomas Was Alone, I decided to try out Little Inferno with absolutely no knowledge of what I was heading into.

The game's premise is you have a Little Inferno Fireplace where you burn items that you buy from catalogs. When you burn these items, you get money to buy even more items. This turns out to be very addicting, but there are only 7 catalogs to choose from; it's a short game. A neat little aspect of the game the deepens the gameplay a bit is that you can burn multiple items to form a combo. There are 99 combos listed for you to try and figure out. The gameplay at times can feel very repetitive or lacking of depth, so it makes sense that the game is so short.

Throughout, you notice it's very charming appeal. It looks very nice for what it is. I guess a reason why I really enjoyed the game so much is that it's just a game you play to blow off some stress and enjoy it in it's simplicity. There's a certain satisfaction achieved when you are done with the game.

Story. This is a funny aspect of the game. Who'd think there was story in this game? Well there is. I'll leave it at that, but let's say that the story is very charming in the way it is handled.

You will probably smile at least once during playing this game; I know I did. Ultimately, I was surprisingly satisfied with this game. I had no clue about it until I played it, and I wanted to play it until the end. The story introduced into the game though, is what really puts the icing on the cake. Giving the game a much needed "oomph".
