The Good vs Bad when it comes down to Little Deviants.

User Rating: 5 | Little Deviants VITA
I'd first like to mention that this is my first Playstation Vita game review and it actually has me pretty excited. Why? Well, because it marks the start of many new games to review on a fascinating new console. Little Deviants just so happened to come with my purchase of the First Edition Bundle for the Playstation Vita, making it my first actual Vita game. I as pretty excited to play it and as soon as I did, I had a blast. Sadly, that didn't last very long and my Vita ended up being a very expensive brick until the release of the Vita for those who didn't get the First Edition.

To start things off, the good things about Little Deviants may be of small quantity but they prove to be quite powerful for a launch title. The game itself is a series of mini-games that take the player through just about every feature the PS Vita has to offer. This is great for those who wish to get the feel of things or see what their new console can do though one title as opposed to many of them. My personal favorites are the rather lacking but quite entertaining Augmented Reality mini-games.

Unfortunately, that's all I have to say in favor of Little Deviants. I've tried pretty hard to find other things that don't seem ridiculous enough to mention in its favor, but I just can't think of anything. As for the bad things about Little Deviants, it's got quite a few. For starters, the game may be great for experiencing the PS Vita's features, but the variety of the mini-games is so slim that continuing to play for even short periods of time feels more like a chore than a good time. If you don't mind a lot of repetition and what seems to be an uneven supply of variety, this won't be much of a problem for you.

Though it's pretty harsh to expect much from a new title on a brand new console, the sound design for the game was pretty bad and annoying after a while. From the soundtrack that seemed as if one person did it on their laptop to the sound effects of the adorable 'deviants', anyone who is easily annoyed may find themselves either turning off the sounds for the game or simply just putting it down and never picking it back up.

I usually don't mix things around between the good and bad, but I can definitely give this game a point for being challenging. However, there are quite a few mini-games that are a bit too challenging. Due to the extremely high point requirements for medals in the majority of the games, trophy hunters or completionists could meet their match here.

Overall the game does what I'm sure it intended to do, but it did so in a way that could have been greatly improved with more variety, more development time, and a bit more mercy towards those who wish to have fun but also wish to be challenged, giving it a 5/10. I definitely would not recommend picking it up unless you have it already. A rental would be best if you could find a place that allows you to rent it, but I honestly wouldn't even recommend that.
