Abstract and surrealist "art" has invaded the medium of video games.

Abstract and surrealist "art" has always been my least favorite type because I have never been a fan of meaningless imagery. One can argue that there is a substantial amount of "symbolism" in here, but because symbolism only has meaning according to an individual's perception, the argument is faulty and hence, wrong. Abstract art isn't supposed to make any sense, and it isn't supposed to have a meaning behind it, it's supposed to make you think-that is part of what makes it abstract. The purpose is irrelevant. You are supposed to find a meaning of your own. It can be pretty, but very few pretty things in this world actually have any substance behind them. 'Linger in Shadows' is absolutely no different--like all work of this nature it has neither coherence nor significance. All style, no substance, much like the films of David Lynch or the artwork of Salvador Dali. If you want to, you can overanalyze this "game" and try to decifer a meaning--and if you are looking for one, you will find it. However, that doesn't mean that it is true, especially not for everyone. It isn't psychology, it isn't a message, and it certainly isn't symbolism--it is seven minutes of your life spent on surrealist "art" that you will never get back. There is no doubt in my mind that this game will be praised for its supposed "artistic prowess," but for those of us who aren't as easily entralled, this "beauty" is only skin deep.
