When I first saw Limbo, I did not expect much. It was just going to be another 2D puzzle game with the same old puzzles and repetitive gameplay, but I'm here to tell you that Limbo is much much more.
The game starts with you waking up in a mysterious and dark world. Not knowing what's in this world, Limbo starts on an adventure that is not what he expected it be. He soon figures out that this world swarming with traps, vicious beasts, and many other deadly beings and objects. So your objective is this - Get the heck out of here! There really isn't a story and there are no characters you'll get attached to.
Visual/Sound Design -
Limbo has an incredible visual design backed-up by some amazing sound effects. The world is presented in different shades of black and white; this makes the game have a gritty and dirty feel to it. You feel that you are in a very terrifying world.
The sound design is amazing! This game is unique in sound design. One thing you'll notice is that there is no music, only the sound of you and your surroundings. This really immerses you in the world.
The veriety of puzzles in this game is incredible. You are never doing the same thing over and over again. The controls are precise and the only thing you can do is move, jump, and grab/pull. which the only thing you need to do in this game. Oh, and get ready to die..alot! This is a "Trial and Error" game. You have to think what you are going to do with what is presented to you and go about doing it. Do not worry about getting frustrated, the game offers a forgiving checkpoint system that puts you only a little farther from where you died. (This does not make the game any easier). The game still offers up a challenge without being unfair and frustrating.
Limbo offers a veriety of incredible puzzles, outstanding visual/sound design, and a immersive world that you will not want to come out of. Even though it is short and doesn't offer any real story and characters, Limbo is a must play and is one of the best games to come out this year.
Score - 9.1/10
