LIMBO manages to captivate the player with a peculiar artsyle and clever puzzles.

LIMBO is a hard game to describe. Not gameplay wise as it is without any shadow of a doubt a mix of puzzle and platforming, but rather what it tries to tell, always feeling like it has some hidden meaning that I wasnt able to understand. After completing it I felt the urge to look the meaning of LIMBO on the webs and I came across several plenty theories (some more logical than others) about LIMBO's story. There was one that made the most sense but I wont spoil it here. LIMBO's gameplay is very basic but very intuitive. Controls always feel responsive and if something screws up, it's most of the time the players fault. Puzzles can vary from easy to hard but always feeling logical. Even though it can be a real head-scratcher at times it never ends up being completely frustating like something as Braid that, personaly, made me stop playing at times because I couldnt figure out the solution(s).
But what sold me out on LIMBO was the peculiar artsyle. It felt like a melancholic cartoon with a noticeable over-the-top violence that, even without reaching the levels of violence of say Gears of War or God of War, ends up being more sinister than the mentioned. Several times I shivered watching the character die in the most horrible of manners. The fluid animations of a giant spider sure helped that.
Unfortunately the game is very short, like most in the genre, but due to the more or less easy puzzles it can be completed in a shorter time than the others.
LIMBO gets a high recommendation from me to puzzle game lovers.
