The original trilogy is more of the same from the first game but that isn't a bad thing

Lego star wars 2 offers many updates over the original but the core gameplay is more or less the same. The graphics and sound have both been given a slight overhaul and theres now many more options in the hub. The hub this time around is the cantina rather than dexters diner. A great new option is the ability to mix and match parts of characters to make whole new ones. If you have a savefile from the original game you can upload all your characters from it to use in freeplay mode however sadly you can't mix and match their pieces.

The gameplay is pretty much the same as the original game but just slightly more fun. It's hard to tell why it's more fun it just is. There are the same different types of characters fas in the original such as force weilders, grapplers and small characters etc. A cool new feature though is each characters special ability. All those characters tha tcan use the force each have their own unique force power for example Darth Vader has force choke. Other characters have unique moves as well for example Chewbacca can rip enemies arms off and that is strangely satisfying and wouldn't work if it wasn't lego.

The only problem really is the lifespan again although it's longer than the original it's still not long. The game is at it's best during drop in drop out co-op multiplayer because it's just so fun to play with someone else. Fans of the original game will love it and even those who never played the original should love it as well. It's great because it's the kind of game for all ages.
