Mr. J's Lego Marvel Super Heroes Review!

User Rating: 10 | LEGO Marvel Super Heroes PS3
Have you ever wanted to swing through the city as Spider-Man? Or maybe you would rather fly through the skies as Iron Man? Or possibly you're the type of person who would rather just run around and mess stuff up like The Hulk? Either way, in Lego's Marvel Superheroes you can achieve any of that. And that's just after playing the game for 5 minutes, and playing through a boss battle that seems like it should be the final boss, and it's not even close. The moment you start playing the storyline you're thrown into a brilliantly thought out Marvel adventure that utilizes ALL of Marvel's biggest heroes at once, like Iron Man, Hulk, Capn' America, Spider-Man, Thor, Wolverine, Mr. Fantastic, and Cyclops, instead of only having only a few like in the live-action films. The world is in danger, and it is going to take a lot more than just the avengers to save it this time. I don't want to spoil too much, but I sure wish the movies would go with a story more like this. You go to many different locations throughout the game that you will immediatly recognise from either the movies or comics, such as Stark Tower, the Shield Hellicarrier, Asgard, the X-Mansion, the Fantastic 4 building, the awesome hub world of New York City, and many more famous locations. As you play each level, you'll find yourself gripped into the story that's going on almost as if you were watching an Avengers movie in the movie theatre. You'll almost even forget that the characters are Lego people. By the end of the storyline, you'll be wishing it was a live-action movie, too! The graphics we're surprisingly very well done, considering it IS only little Lego people. In my opinion, it definitely has the best graphics of any Lego game I've played so far. The individual characters were so well done, that you could tell who each one is even if it didn't have their names labeled. The level design was absolutely beautiful, with no graphical glitches I could find yet, complete with an awesome boss battle for each one. Everything is so crisp and clear from the sky backdrops to the textures of boxes. Each individual place from the comics and/or movies you visit will be instantly recognisable. Asgard looks and feels like you actually traveled to Asgard, just as a Lego figure. And the movie clips throughout the storyline are comparable to half of the Lego movies and TV shows, such as Lego Ninjago, if not better. The soundboard throughout the game is very well done as well. Complete with soundtracks straight from Marvel movies, so you literally feel like you're inside one of the films. When something really intense is going down the music changes to get your heartbeat racing, and when things are calm there's very subtle background music so you can focus on the task at hand, ect. The voice track is also pretty well done, with characters that at least closely resemble the voices of the characters in the films. Each character has his or her own voice to fit their personality. The movie clips all have dialogue you would expect reading a Marvel comic, or watching a Marvel movie. There's jokes and puns thrown in at the perfect moments to make you smile, even while you are in impending doom, just as Spider-Man would do in the comics. The game itself is easily playable for all ages in my opinion, because my 4 year old step son sat here and played it with me and absolutely loved it. There are puzzles and things like that, but usually you can do all the harder stuff while your younger one runs around and beats people up, or destroys some boxes and collects "studs". They have actually upgraded the way multiplayer works since previous instalments in the Lego games. It is complete split screen now, which means you're not constantly being pulled around or not able to see your character because of the other person you're playing with. The controls are extremely simple, but they're simple enough to where the gameplay is still really fun. Each different character has his or her own moves from the comics, and most have several outfits to collect, which makes for an extremely large array of possibilities while playing. If you're Iron Man, you can fly around at light speed, or if you're Spider-Man you can swing around New York City skyscrapers on webs, or if you're a big character such as The Hulk you can run around and lift up cars and destroy things other characters can't. The only problem I've found that bothered me about the gameplay was occasional glitchiness. I had my character get stuck in a position that I could not get out of about 4 or 5 times while playing through the story. One time my character just kept falling off the edge, respawning, and falling off the edge. But other than the occasional character getting stuck, I haven't found a single problem with the way the game runs, or the playability. Even after the game is finished there is still almost more to do than just going through the storyline! You can run around and help random people throughout New York, you can collect gold bricks to unlock special Deadpool themed bonus missions (I had like 35/250 by the time I finished the storyline), you can collect tokens to unlock even more Marvel characters than are used in the story (which you have to collect studs to buy after unlocking), you can collect the "Red Bricks" to unlock Deadpools cheat codes, and a lot more than that. I think it's a game that I'll be popping back in for years to come just to mess around as all the awesome Marvel heroes and villains, and I think you will too. All in all, even though it could be a little glitchy at points, I would VERY highly recommend this game to people of all ages, young and old. It has a beautifully built atmosphere and level design, an awesome Marvel Adventure storyline, a vast selection of Marvel characters, an awesome soundtrack thats straight out of the Marvel movies, easy yet fun gameplay, and loads of things to do even after you finish the game. I've still been playing for days after the story ended and I've only done 8/11 bonus missions, and I am only at 60%. Without a doubt, this is one of my new favorite games for sure, and I think you will enjoy it as well. 9/10 If you liked the review me follow me on Twitter @Mr_Jgamez or Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/_BRpfWr_p7/ Peace out!!!
