One of the best ways to learn chess!

User Rating: 9.5 | LEGO Chess PC
Chess has always been a mystery to me. Each game piece moves a different way, they all have names, there are chess tournaments, endless books about it...It is also called one of the most intellectual games in the world. Why?
'Strategy, tactics, planning skills and so on,'
I've heard the answer one too many times! Sounds like Dr. Kawashima's training combined with an RPG! But this made me finally decide to learn. I started wondering...where to start? Should I ask somebody, and learn the practical way? Or should I buy a handful of books, and learn the theory? The best solution would be a program that would teach me both. Suddenly I find myself holding a 3-in-1 CD full of Lego games: Lego Creator, Lego Loco and Lego Chess. It was for free in a magazine, which might have told me about the popularity of the game (Mario games aren't handed out, are they?) I quickly loaded it onto my computer, and chose Lego Chess.
The first thing that had hit me was not too bright, yet colourful graphics. Everything was set, of course, in a Lego world. A small Lego wizard greeted me and started teaching me the theory and the practical - how to move game pieces, what they can be taken away by etc. After I had mastered all game pieces, I was able to play an easy game against Lego pirates. Along the way, I was taught more and more tactics and techniques. The games against other Lego 'people' got harder and harder, but it wasn't too hard - or too easy, for that matter. Before I knew it, I was playing chess like a pro!
Apart from the tutorial, more games are available. The tutorial can always be revisited, so I could remind myself at any moment which piece moves which way. It is one of the best games I have on the PC.
If chess is a mystery, try getting this on ebay or on another internet-based shop. You might just be lucky, and be able to buy it! Lego Chess is the key to learn how to play one of the most popular games in the world!
