A well done story with enhanced open world options makes this one of the better LEGO games.

I try to play all the different Batman games which even includes silly ones like this one. However, I came away pleasantly surprised with the narrative, characters, environments, and the open world concept which was a pleasant surprise.

For kids eager to get into video games the LEGO titles offer a fairly safe option for parents despite the games sometimes being a little finicky with controls and actions. This seems to be a bit of annoyance across a number of these titles but, ultimately, they don't deter from the overall game. One might suspect, however, that kids might have to use a walk through or the like to help them figure out what to do next in a few cases. It is nice that the game focuses on playing versus and having fun versus making things too challenging which might deter some kids.

I have to admit I came a way a bit impressed by the way they fleshed out this entire game. The graphics and environments as good as they could be considering this is a more cartoony title. Too, the freedom to explore and continue to do a ton of different things provide a nice level of replayability even though these inclusions might not be as interesting to hardened gamers who are a bit older.

This is a worthy title for kids that just might be worth the purchase. However, if you're older just looking for something fun and easy to hold you over to your next big title it might be better just to rent first.
