Fun to play despite the sometimes annoying controls

There's a lot to explore and collect in Lego Batman 2, which is a definite plus in my book. The story is funny and charming, I just wish it was longer. Whether or not the story feels long depends on how you play. Each story level is stand-alone, allowing you to explore as much as you want between them, but I don't really start collecting until after I've finished the storyline.

There are some problems with the vehicles. I never really used the cars to collect anything - once you finish the storyline you can access characters with flight whenever you want. I hated using planes/helicopters though and found most of the gold brick challenges that required them really annoying.

I used flight a lot, and I have some issues with the controls there as well. Landing is annoying in the open map. I found myself trying to land on top of a building and having my character glide right past it. This was really annoying when trying to collect certain gold bricks and having my character refuse to fly into the niche I was aiming for or the controls going wonky once I was in said niche.

The collecting and character roster mostly makes up for these flaws though. I had never played a LEGO game before and, although I don't plan to go back and play the ones sans voice acting, I will probably pick up later entries in the series (like the upcoming Lord of the Rings one).
