One of the few Diablo II knockoffs that will both hypnotize you and have you busting your computer.

User Rating: 6.5 | Legend: Hand of God PC
Legend: Hand of God is an overhead RPG. The game takes place in a land called Aeris. You play as Targon, a protector of the Holy Flame which unsurprisingly keeps Demons from coming into the world. You have a companion Light Elf (sort of like a fairy), we'll talk about about her more in the flaws section. The flame is put out, Demons pour in, and Targon is sent to find the 3 (as in every quest game) pieces of the last artifact from the ancient era: the Hand of God. Of course, doing this is a bigger pain than you would think, as an hour or two of exploring near endless trails between dungeons can get annoying after the first time you're forced to do so.

Let's talk about a basic dungeon layout. Every dungeon has 3 floors and a boss floor (sounds like Zelda, doesn't it?) Each floor layout is randomly picked by the game, some of them so large that it more or less becomes annoying. Each room usually contains 5-15 enemies, regardless of the room's size. Most times, if the closest enemy attacks, the enemy all the way on the other side does too.

On to gameplay. The game features a duel-class system, meaning you choose a combination of "Path"s. Unsurprisingly, there are 5: Warrior, Villain, Wilderness, Magic, and Faith. The game is filled with special weapons and armor that you can find among the countless numbers of "Hidden Loot". Most times, however, it's not an item usable by either of your classes.

Finally, we get to flaws, and I hope the list couldn't get any longer. When it comes right down to it, the game's a bit unpolished. I would assume the developers haven't made many RPG's, as there's a lot of pieces that don't fit the puzzle. The merchants offer health and mana potions, but you don't need to buy any. It doesn't take long for your inventory to fill up with them. Despite all of these potions, after around lvl 5, it's not difficult to be killed by a group of 3 enemies or even 1. Most of your skill points go to health just so you can last 2 seconds before being killed by one Zombie.

I mentioned a Light Elf companion earlier. I'm sticker her here for a reason. Altogether, the whole companion thing is flawed. If all of the other flaws don't get to you, she will. Terrible voice acting plus she never shuts up. She comments on everything and tells you your inventory is almost full every time it's only about half way. The worst part is, the developers knew that it would get annoying. They made a joke in the beginning of the game when you enter your first cave. Basically, she's your torch, and Targon responds to a comment and says "At least a torch burns quietly."

For the last part of the flaws, we have technical problems. Of all the things to fix with a patch, none of these were on the list, yet they're the biggest problems. Your companion also serves as your cursor. The problem is, you don't always click the enemy you want to attack. Occasionally you'll be killed while running circles around the enemy because it won't select them. Another occurrence is a lot more common, special moves sometimes won't trigger, leaving you beating the crap out of the mouse button you've hot keyed the attack to while a wave of enemies kills you. For this, you end up having to deselect all enemies, running away, then turning around and selecting them with the special move button itself.

Another bug is rare, but nonetheless can happen. You can kill "Hidden Loot" and clutter like "Treasure Chest"s. Apparently, they left their properties as destroyable. "Hidden Loot" is the only one that you can't get the treasure from if you kill it, usually something good too. How you do it is when you attempt a special move when you're neat it, clicking it instead of the enemy next to it.

Altogether, Legend: Hand of God isn't horrible, but it has its moments. I would recommend the game only to people who like cliche story lines and have a lot of patience.
